Google's Big Fiber Play: What Gives?
Google on Wednesday announced that it wants to "build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States." Google's proposed networks would service anywhere from 50,000 to 500,000 people with commercial broadband Internet service reaching speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.PC World via Yahoo! Sweet! Are you paying the same prices I was quoting for my area? So much better than DSL if you need the speed.

Comcast Cable just announced a new internet service called Extreme, which boasts 50 MB Download and 10 MB Upload for $99.95. In the latter part of the year they will offer 100 MB Down and 25 MB Up. Not sure what price.

I pay $49 today for my DSL service which gives me 7 MB Down and .7 MB Up.
